Oh the Places I Go!
Come on this adventure with me as you experience the images below!
Plum Island in Winter: The soft pastels of the sunset and the gentle waves ebbing onto the shore of this beach during an early spring day on Plum Island.
White Mountains Snow Day: A soft flurry of snow flakes dusted the trees and mountains in pearlescent beauty on this wintry day in December. Time to snowshoe and get hot chocolate!
The Beginning of Fall at Chandler Pond: Autumn is my favorite time in New England, as leaves change bright colors and the air begins to cool. Here, the leaves are just beginning to turn. The reflection of the trees, houses, and the warm lights add a cozy fall feeling. (Exhibited at BCC’s Local Visions, Boston Public Library, 4/2023.)
Tree on a Tree: In New England, the tradition of building fairy houses out of “found objects” in the forest is fairly common. When one stands out to me, I always take a photograph. Over the years, it feels like one long treasure hunt! Here, I was struck by how the cheerful little trees look like people (or even like inflatable tube men you see outside of car washes). I also appreciate the flaky rooftop made of bark and the water droplets from a fresh rain.
Tree Mushrooms: We’d been having a lot of rain in New England. While hiking, I spotted some rather large mushrooms growing sideways out of this tree trunk. When I see things like this, I always think of that Jurassic Park quote: “Life will find a way.” Then that song gets stuck in my head.
Quiet Contemplation: A contemplative moment amidst the open skies and expansive water on the beach in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Rose with Water Droplets: While on a run after a rain storm, I stopped to photograph this red rose cluster. I love how water brings out the saturation of colors in its petals, and how the delicate petals combine with the thorn stems to create a resilient flowering plant.
Covered Bridge in Woodstock, VT: Historic covered bridges tend to be more common in Vermont, and this one, with its natural woodgrain pattern and architecture is lovely. A freshly fallen snow and cloudy sky adds to the cozy mood.
Misty Morning Sunrise on the Farm: Farm chores start at sunrise on this misty morning in New England.
Sleepy Hollow Farm, Vermont: A driveway sweeps down to a majestic Vermont farm cozily wrapped in snow. It is said that it was once owned by a band member from Aerosmith.
Autumn Day at the Reservoir: A foggy autumn day is being enjoyed by geese and runners at a Boston Reservoir.
Skiers in the Snow: During a winter of record low temperatures and several snow storms, there’s nothing better to do than to head out to your local river path and ski.
Tree Growth: So much life is growing on this tree, from moss to lichens to mushrooms! Up close, it looks like a tiny village of activity.
Irish Hiking Trail: On a windy hike past sheep and through the Irish countryside, we saw these fashionistas. I was happy to follow them down the trail and incorporate them into the landscape.
